What is a "Student Pastor" ( a "Vicar")?

  "Vicar" = "in the place of"

1. A 1-year Pastor Intern

2. One who is:

   1. Under the authority of the pastor

   2. At times in the place of the pastor ("bishop")

3. A future shepherd of a local church

   In the church at Antioch there were prophets and teachers...While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, "Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them." So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off. The two of them, sent on their way by the Holy Spirit, went down to Seleucia and sailed from there to Cyprus.
   Acts 13:1-4

The Biblical pattern for Growing a Pastor:

1. "Antioch" = A training ground (Mount Olive)

2. "Cyprus" = Being sent to another destination (TBD)

What this means for Mount Olive:

1. We are training, equipping, and sending a future Pastor.

2. We are connected to the future before it gets here.

3. We are investing into a local church NOT Mount Olive.

4. This is not really about us.

What this means for me:

1. Where am I going to invest my time into this?

2. What does an equipping and sending local church look like?

3. This is NOT about what is in it for me!
