Living Upon God's Word: Accept No Imitation!

Narrow Gate vs. Broad Gate:

Watch out for False Prophets who speak on God's behalf!

"Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves." Matthew 7:15

For the secret power of lawlessness [read: "against God's Law"] is already at work... So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the teachings we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter.
2 Thessalonians 2:7, 15

Then I saw another beast [the Beast of false religion], coming out of the earth. He had two horns like a lamb, but he spoke like a dragon...[He] made the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast.
Revelation 13:11-12

I saw a woman [the Great Prostitute - false religion] sitting on a scarlet beast that was covered with blasphemous names...[she] was dressed in purple and scarlet, and was glittering with gold, precious stones and pearls. She held a golden cup in her hand, filled with abominable things and the filth of her adulteries.
Revelation 17:3-4

Identifying a true prophet or disciple:

  1. Confesses that Jesus Christ is 100% God & 100% Man

  2. Is completely obedient to the Word of God (the Bible)

Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world. You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.
    1 John 1:1-4

Where do you stand?

"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock... But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand."
Matthew 7:24, 26

  1. The Sand – One who Hears the Word only, chooses to live differently (end result is emptiness, hopelessness, and destruction)

  2. The Rock – One who hears the Word and puts the Word into practice (end result is meaning, purpose, hope, and life)
